Today August 20th 2025 in KUMI, the Executive Director of the Iteso Cultural Development Foundation (ICUDEF) Dr. Eriaku Peter Emmanuel , has pledged to strengthen healthcare services in Teso Sub-region through Strategic Partnerships and Community-driven Solutions.
Speaking at the Integrated Regional Performance Review Meeting held today at Kumi Hotel, Dr. Eriaku raised the urgent need for stronger collaboration among Government Entities, Health Implementing Partners and ICUDEF through the Clan-based Development Model.
The meeting, convened by the Ministry of Health, brought together Chief Administrative Officers (CAOs), District Health Officers (DHOs), RDCs in the region, Soroti Regional Referral Hospital representatives, and Implementing Partners such as AIDS Information Centre.This is discussions was on the Client Satisfaction Survey Report (January–July 2025), which revealed that client satisfaction in the Teso region stands at 53%, significantly lower than the national average of 63%.
“Health is a cultural and community issue as much as it is a medical one. Partnerships across sectors will ensure that services in Teso are not only accessible but also meet the expectations of our people,” Dr. Eriaku said.
He added that the Development Arm of the Cultural Union, when meaningfully involved, can bridge gaps in health-seeking behaviors, mobilize communities, and ensure that services are responsive to the unique needs of the population.
Participants at the review meeting acknowledged the progress made but also emphasized the need for improved client engagement, better resource allocation, and strengthened health systems in the region.

As discussions continue, stakeholders expressed optimism that integrating Clan Leadership into health service delivery will play a transformative role in bridging the satisfaction gap and raising healthcare standards in Teso.
